The troubling allegations surrounding Coach Jomo Mobanga-Bosilong and MAGRA

The recent allegations against Coach Jomo Mobanga-Bosilong, owner of Mafikeng Grassroots Academy (MAGRA), have raised doubts about his integrity and commitment to nurturing young athletes despite his crucial role in shaping their futures and guiding their aspirations. This raises questions about the integrity of coaches in the sports world.

Bosilong has been accused of misconduct, leading to dissatisfaction among parents and players at MAGRA, including allegations of mishandling funds, making false promises, and failing to explain his actions adequately. Bosilong faces allegations of misappropriation of funds, using the names of football clubs like Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, and Orlando Pirates to lure parents into paying for opportunities for their children. For example, he collected R400 from parents for a trip to Mamelodi Sundowns' play-offs, which were postponed and cancelled without a clear explanation.

Bosilong is accused of selling dreams to young players at MAGRA, using the promise of playing for prestigious clubs as a motivator. The cancellation of a Mamelodi Sundowns trip after collecting money from parents further heightened the distrust. Bosilong requested R400 from parents on September 30, claiming their children would play at Mamelodi Sundowns. He cancelled the trip due to the tragic passing of a young player. However, the parents discovered the allegations were untrue upon investigation, leaving them feeling deceived and betrayed.

Bosilong's lack of accountability is a significant issue, as he cancelled trips and made false claims, went missing in action, and failed to respond to parents' messages, exacerbating frustration and anger among the parents and players involved. The allegations against Bosilong and MAGRA have significant financial and emotional consequences for young footballers who had trusted them. These allegations have shattered their dreams and led them to believe they were on the cusp of an incredible opportunity.

During a telephonic interview with Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson Shupi Kgadima, he stated, "I understand that there have been allegations suggesting that I, as a spokesperson for Mamelodi Sundowns, had been in contact with Mr Jomo Mobanga and had knowledge of the trip planned by MAGRA to our club. I want to state that I have no recollection of recognizing Mr. Jomo Mobanga or having any prior contact or communication with him regarding such a trip."

"Mamelodi Sundowns takes its interactions with various academies and clubs seriously, and any official communication or planning related to visits or engagements is conducted through appropriate channels. To the best of my knowledge and in my capacity as a spokesperson for the club, there has been no correspondence or arrangement with Mr Mobanga or MAGRA regarding a visit to our club." "I value transparency and honesty in all matters related to our club. It was crucial to address these allegations promptly to maintain the credibility and integrity of Mamelodi Sundowns."

MO-MEDIA has tried reaching out to the alleged coach. However, there was no luck getting hold of him or his whereabouts. However, Bosilong still has a right to respond to these allegations. The allegations against Coach Jomo Mobanga-Bosilong and Mahikeng Grassroots Academy (MAGRA) are concerning, involving misappropriation of funds, false promises, and lack of accountability.

Parents and young athletes have been disillusioned and hurt. While due process is necessary, protecting the interests and dreams of the players is also crucial, emphasizing integrity, transparency, and athlete well-being.
