South Africa is gearing up for an extraordinary women's football talent showcase as the 2023 Sasol League National Championship takes centre stage.This thrilling event will unfold at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein from October 16 to 22. The championship promises excitement and fierce competition and offers a glimpse into the future of women's football in South Africa.

The competition will bring together nine provincial champions who will converge at the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium, all vying for the coveted title of the 2023 Sasol League National Champions. The stakes are undoubtedly high, with a grand prize of R200 000 awaiting the triumphant team.

Furthermore, the second-placed team will receive R100 000, while the third will be awarded R60 000. However, the rewards continue, as the top two teams will secure promotion to the prestigious Hollywoodbets Super League. Notably, Royal Queens FC has been crowned North West SASOL League Champions, and they are ready to represent their province on the national stage.

Tshepang Khumalo, a director of Royal Queens FC, expressed the significance of their participation in the competition. She emphasized that many of her players hail from humble backgrounds, and she believes that scouting talent in deep rural areas is essential. Khumalo pointed out that while the North West may not be traditionally seen as a football powerhouse, the talent is abundant, and this opportunity is vital for showcasing their potential. Khumalo's ultimate goal has always been to secure a place for North West in the Hollywoodbets Super League.

She believes in taking one step at a time toward that dream, but her dedication to achieving it remains unwavering. Khumalo noted that the young and hungry players brought to the competition are eager to make their mark and change their lives. The Sasol League has long served as a platform for young and aspiring women footballers to kickstart their careers. It provides them with an opportunity to excel and aspire to the highest levels of competition within South Africa and on the international stage.

Speaking at the launch and draw of the Sasol League National Championship, Nozipho Mbatha, Sasol Senior Manager: Group Brand and Sponsorships, urged the public to rally behind these young women and their dreams, highlighting the message: Believe in Her Dreams with Sasol League. The league serves as a launchpad for future national team players and initiatives aim to open doors for young athletes, exposing them to opportunities within the football fraternity.

Lydia Monyepao, CEO of the South African Football Association (SAFA), expressed gratitude to Sasol for their enduring support of women’s football. The Sasol League tournament has played a pivotal role in nurturing a continuous supply of talented players, making dreams come true for many. It is a crucial foundation for the growth of women's football in South Africa.

The tournament format will encompass nine group stages and three knockout matches, promising an action-packed competition. The group stages will unfold from October 17 to 19, with live broadcasts on Sasol and SAFA's social and digital media platforms. The semi-final, scheduled for October 20, will be aired on SABC Sports Channel, leading up to the anticipated final on October 22, which will be broadcast on SABC 1.

The participating teams are divided into three groups, each displaying a unique blend of talent and determination. Group A includes Sasol Juventus from Mpumalanga, Royal Queens from North West, and a Gauteng Team. Group B features Royal Wizards of the Northern Cape, the University of Fort Hare from the Eastern Cape, and Lindelani Ladies from KwaZulu-Natal. The final group comprises the University of Cape Town from the Western Cape, Limpopo's Ramatlaohle Ladies and Ixias FC from Free State.
