We publish on a very significant day, a day on which South African
democracy was predicated some 29 years back. This day is worth celebrating
despite the conspicuous challenges faced by South Africans on a daily.
These challenges can make South Africans to be despondent, to believe that
this democracy is a project to benefit and be enjoyed by politicians,
members of the governing party and the elite.
These challenges require of us to take those who are in power to task, to
reclaim our freedom as ordinary people and defend this freedom from being
abused by politicians. This day is your day and no South African should be
left behind without benefiting from the fruits of freedom and democracy.
For this freedom to make sense, all the basic services guaranteed by the
constitution must be delivered, the lives of South Africans must be seen to
improving and be able to feed their families.
