Did you know that Mahikeng is home to the two former Kaizer Chiefs players of the 1980s. The duo is Sylvester “City” Kole and Thibogang “TNT” Lesejane, who both wore jersey number 17.
Kole featured for the club for over a decade and is the first Mahikeng-born player to be signed-up by the then Phefeni Glamour Boys, now known as the Naturena boys. Lesejane holds the record of being the first Kaizer Chiefs player to score a goal against Egyptian giants Zamalek in the 1993 African Champions League.
