Tshiamo Mahloane, Kagiso Phologolo, Thato Mabitsa, and Diteko Matlape, aged between 17 and 20, are set to represent South Africa at the prestigious International Jump Rope Union (IJRU) World Jump Rope Championships which started on July 16 until July 23 in Colorado, United States.
Coached by the seasoned mentor Mpho Seate, this dynamic quartet is ready to showcase their skills on the global stage.
This year's championships, held at the Colorado College’s new Ed Robson Arena, a multi-purpose state-of-the-art venue, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, will attract over 3 000 participants from more than 30 countries.
Supported by the North West Department of Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, the South African team is grateful for the opportunity to compete alongside the world's best jump rope athletes.
The Championships will feature a diverse range of events that will captivate spectators and showcase the incredible skill and athleticism of the participants.
Among the featured events are the Double Dutch Contest, where urban culture merges with acrobatics, dance, and music, and the Single Rope and Double Dutch Speed events, which will determine the fastest jumpers in the world.
The Single Rope and Double Dutch Freestyle events will mesmerise the audience with acrobatics, unlimited skill combinations and endurance.
This year's Championships have an added significance as the International Jump Rope Union, in collaboration with the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, has combined the World Championships, the International Open Tournament and the Junior World Championships into one spectacular event.
At the esteemed Ed Robson Arena at Colorado College, the competition will run from through the preliminary rounds held from Sunday to July 20th and the finals scheduled for July 21st to 23rd.
