The South African Management Training and Consulting (SAMTC), in partnership with BANKSETA and Mahikeng Local Municipality, has embarked on rolling out an Entrepreneurship Skills Program to address the youth unemployment challenges in the Mahikeng Local Municipality.
The persistently high youth unemployment rate has long been one of the most pressing socio-economic problems in South Africa. Some young work-seekers need to be better educated and possess sufficient skills and previous work experience demanded by employers in the labour market.
During the six months, the youth will be paid an allowance and trained to start and manage a small business. The Agric delivery project has the following impacts on the community:
- Sustainable entrepreneurship opportunity for the youth, who in turn can create more jobs in the community.
- Growing sustainable food sources for local communities
- Assist farmers in complying with regulations, thus allowing them access to bigger
markets
- Help our SA food sustainability index
This program aims to deliver high-quality skills for economic growth, employment creation, start-ups, and social development.
Adequate and relevant education is one of the most critical social challenges in South Africa, and this partnership is committed to helping improve and support skills development to overcome this challenge.
The launch was expected yesterday at Hands of Ru Manufacturing Factory, 20699 James Watt Crescent, Industrial Site in Mahikeng.
Many youth attendees were expected as they had been notified about it last Friday.
SAMTC not only focuses on empowering youth with skills limited to food security but also empowers them in various fields such as bricklaying, carpentry and other forms of empowerment to be sustainable in different medium- to long-term job creation opportunities.
