Mmabatho Palms is the oldest casino in South Africa established in 1977. In September 2022, the hotel and casino celebrate 45 years of excellent service within the province of North West, situated in Mahikeng. It was the ¬rst resort built by Sol Kerzner and originally named Mmabatho Sun, Mmabatho Tusk and now, Mmabatho Palms which is a property of Peermont Global. Despite the tragic incident that happened on 08 September, the property still continues to operate 24/7.
The hotel boasts the trendy Motswedi Terrace Restaurant, the Moo Bar which plays host to various local DJs, as well as a fully functional casino. They cater for weddings, baby showers, conferencing and other special events. Mmabatho Palms has hosted many prestigious events such as the SATMA Awards pre-party, the North West Drag racing after party’s, live stand-up comedy shows with Mashabela Galane and Riaad Moosa, the Pitsa ya Kgale Legends Sports Awards, MACRAS and many more.
Apart from the exhilarating entertainment, Palms has thriving CSI projects that provide food parcels and essentials to over 50 children & adult homes each year. The hotel collaborates annually with Hotel School and awards bursaries to students in need so that they can actively develop the hospitality industry.
They have also played a significant role in the community through various initiatives in collaboration with seTswana maKgosi such as empowering young entrepreneurs by creating job opportunities like The Palms Car Wash as well as vegetable gardens run by local community members. Mmabatho Palms carries the hopes and aspirations of many people.
They are in collaboration with various government departments including the Executive Mayor of Ngaka Modiri Molema, Cllr Khumalo Molefe. Mmabatho Palms celebrates their 45th year with an extravagant gala dinner surrounded by esteemed guests and colleagues, paying homage to the community that has supported it from its inception.
