Excluded student survives off sneaker-washing

Excluded student survives

Mmoloki Galeboe, 25, from Huhudi near Vryburg, wants to change his family's lives through his business.

Galeboe matriculated in 2016 and registered to study Bachelor of Commerce in Law at the University of South Africa. But due to being cash-strapped, he had to drop out of school.

This hiccup did not stand in his way of becoming a successful man. He started a car and sneaker wash business called "Tekkie Wash."

Galeboe said: "I would say I started this business because of unemployment and the situation at home."

Galeboe was part of the second group that attended the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District's Career & Science Expo held on July 26 and 27 at the town's Banquet Hall.

The district's development model invited different departments and private financial institutions that may assist youth in business with funds and training.

Galeboe's business idea of "Tekkie Wash" idea impressed the National Youth Development Agency (NDYA) speaker on the day.

However, he intends to receive funds for kitchen equipment because he wants to own a fast food outlet.

"I would like for NDYA to help me with a mobile kitchen so that I can sell Kotas and fat cakes. I will continue with my current business as I plan to hire someone to work on my kitchen, " he said.

He has been invited to attend training that is scheduled to take place soon in Vryburg.
