Born as Soldier Paul Letsholo, he started learning music as a drummer at the International Pentecostal Holiness Church (IPHC). A year later, he started learning how to play the bass guitar, taught by Okaeng Pitoro.
He then infiltrated the music industry by playing his first gig at Mogwase Stadium as a backup bass player, sharing a stage with Afro pop sensation Zahara, the late Steve Kekana, kwaito star and dancer Chommie and other well-known artists.
Paul Bass started working with Worship Roots, which travelled and performed in different churches. In 2015, he started working with various bands between Rustenburg and Pretoria, with Moji Band, Major Band, Afro Roots, and Andy T.
He directed a Gospel DVD for Tumisang Seleke. He began to perform on big stages like Macufe, BloemShow and Mahika Mahikeng with different artists as a bass player.
Paul went solo by starting a House Movement that he calls (House_Quest), where he performed with DJs while playing drums, guitar and singing during the performance.
The multi-instrumentalist has been performing across South Africa and also headlined events while sharing stages with Black Motion, Mlindo, Musa, Lady Zamar, Salesman, Freddy K, Bizizi, and KG. In 2017, he formed his band called Paul Bass Band, which has been performing all around South Africa.
He performs Afro-pop, R&B, Soul, Reggae, House and Kwaito. He is a founder, manager, singer and bass player in the band. They have performed in places like Hope Festivals, streamed live on both radio and Soweto TV and in night clubs like Coconut, The Stone Complex Mahikeng, and performed at Minister David Mahlobo's 50th birthday celebrations. "In 2021, I hosted events that employed a minimum of 60 artists and musicians and hosted jam sessions, workshops for musicians and other art crafts," he said.
Last year he performed at the Sun City Super Bowl, sharing the stage with Musa, Somizi, Presss and Zonke Dikana. He has also hosted a gospel concert featuring Canaan Nyathi, Prody and other local artists.
He always created a platform for most of the local artists without any funding and came to fundraise money that can assist with tours and public relations for individual artists. In December, he will be hosting a four-day festival that will employ 252 beneficiaries.
