Moeketsi Madibo clearly had his sights set on building his own brand rather than selling someone else's. Moeketsi, a 29-year-old business owner was born and raised in Wolmaransstad. Later he moved to Klerksdorp, and always had a strong business sense prior to the Covid-19 outbreak, he had a clothing line.
"I had to use every penny of my business income to support my family during the Covid-19 harsh lockdown. I was unemployed and without much to do in 2021 because I lacked the funds to start a new business but I knew I had to come up with something so I began to consider selling Mofaya,” said Moeketsi.
As the business expanded, Moeketsi prospered and was noticed by a local radio station "Star FM," which gave him the chance to promote for an insurance company and work with brands like Twizza and Ishall headgear, among others.
To be able to make products for his business, Moeketsi had to work with a winery. "I lost money in the process and had to borrow money to carry on this goal," he added. Based in Klerksdorp in Ellaton, his company is called "Proudly Sub-Sahara," and his wine is called "Sub-Sahara wines." The brand's motto is "Embrace yourself and embrace your origin."
"It is a brand that tries to inspire confidence while also bringing about change in people's ife in terms of their sense of self-worth and self-respect. I overcame significant depression so I am able to understand what it is like to feel unworthy and have a low sense of value.
So by being insanely confident and believing in their brand, Sub-Sahara Wines encourages individuals to embrace themselves and their background,” Moeketsi concluded.
