Katlego Sebogodi is a young fellow born and raised in Dinokana Village near Zeerust in the North West Province. He studied Actuarial Science at the University of the Witwatersrand in 2009. In 2012, he went to North West University for a BSc Degree with four Majors (Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics).
He has always been passionate about learning and helping others learn mathematics. In high school, he conducted extra classes for his classmates on weekends.
All his post-graduate research projects were in pure mathematics, specifically asymmetric topology.
Currently, his research is in mathematical physics, specifically fluid mechanics. He authored a grade 11 and 12 Mathematics Study Guide called Star Math Series, which helps grade 11 and 12 learners understand precisely what they are expected to know and improve their marks through practising mathematics.
Dr. Sebogodi is interested in improving the quality of mathematics education in his community and South Africa. His main concern is the number of learners who areeligible to study for STEM careers in universities and the quality of their matric results.
Dr K is a founder and CEO of an NPO called MATHSCIEMATICS. It helps learners from grades 7-11 with different mathematics and physics lessons and career guidance and prepares them for STEM career studies in universities.
During his university years, Katlego volunteered in high schools during holidays to help with mathematics lessons.
He taught at St. Michaels Private School in Mahikeng, where he taught Cambridge syllabus (IGSCE and AS levels) mathematics and Ramotshere High School in his village.
He lectured at North-West University, Sol Plaatje University and was a Senior Tutor at Witwatersrand University during his PhD studies there.
He is currently a mathematics lecturer at the University of Johannesburg. Dr Sebogodi uses his spare time to volunteer to help learners in Soweto and disadvantaged backgrounds with mathematics lessons.
