In a follow-up to our previous article published two weeks ago, the narrative surrounding Jomo Bosilong-Mobanga's alleged deception continues to evolve. The deception is affecting families and communities deeply. His actions have left a trail of shattered trust and dashed dreams, as Bosilong-Mobanga's repercussions resonate deeply.
Bosilong-Mobanga's alleged financial exploita- tion culprit of MAGRA (Mahikeng Grassroots Academy) players’ parents, remains elusive and unapologetic, despite two weeks since his actions were revealed. This has left the affected parents to bear the brunt of this traumatic ordeal. Bosilong-Mobanga allegedly exploited parents by using Mamelodi Sundowns' name to entice them to pay for a non-existent trip, which was never recognized or sanctioned by the multiple Premier Soccer League champions.
As the 29th of September approached, Bosilong-Mobanga vanished into thin air - causing distress and confusion for the parents. His fabrication of a young player's tragic death led to the postponement of the "trip", but it was later revealed that no child from MAGRA had experienced such a fate, causing further confusion and distress among parents. Parents' of the MAGRA have attempted to contact Bosilong-Mobanga via WhatsApp and phone, but he has shown a lack of remorse and arrogance, refusing to provide the requested information about the supposed deceased player, despite their desperate pursuit of answers and accountability.
The MAGRA community and parents are deeply saddened by Bosilong-Mobanga's stressful situation, and his refusal to meet with parents in person only exacerbates the suspicion of a scam. The lack of accountability highlights the urgent need to expose his unprofessional behaviour and financial exploitation of parents, rather than focusing on developing young football talents. Parents of MAGRA have contacted Mo-Media for help in exposing Bosilong-Mobanga's actions within the community.
They are calling for intervention from Mahikeng Local Football Association (MALFA), SAFA North West and Mamelodi Sundowns to address the situation professionally and prevent the controversial Bosilong-Mobanga from deceiving more parents with their organisations as bait. Pitso Monageng, Chairperson of MALFA, said: "We are aware of these allegations against Jomo Bosilong-Mobanga. Parents have been in contact with us, expressing their concerns about Mr. Mobanga's financial exploitation claims, stating that he would take their young footballers to Mamelodi Sundowns, which never materialised. "
Mamelodi Sundowns spokesperson Shupi Nkgadima confirmed that no such trip was arranged for the 30th of September 2023. As the North West football custodian, we are also deeply concerned about these allegations, as they reflect poorly on our organisation and could unjustly portray us as being incompetent." Kagiso Mokalare, Secretary of the MALFA added: "Jomo Bosilong-Mobang is an affiliated member of MALFA; however, we strongly disapprove of his actions and the disillusionment he has caused among the parents of MAGRA.
These parents had placed immense trust in him, hoping he would nurture their children's football skills and aspirations. "Unfortunately, his actions have shattered the dreams of these young and promising football stars. It's important to note that Jomo had faced a ban in the past due to a similar scandal, but he was reinstated last year in MALFA. As custodians and communicators of football in the North West, we are taken aback by the calculated risk he took without considering the consequences. "I would like to facilitate a meeting between the MAGRA parents and MALFA to provide a clearer understanding of our operational procedures. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that this case falls beyond the purview of MALFA. The only recourse for the parents seeking justice would be to file a formal complaint at the nearest police station."
Mo Media has received a report from parents, former MAGRA players, and community members, revealing the alleged actions of Jomo Bosilong-Mobanga, which have infringed on the rights and dreams of young football players. The report paints a picture of unprofessional behaviour and a lack of accountability, with several disturbing allegations made during interviews and discussions with affected individuals: "I was once a MAGRA player, and I fully understand the frustrations these parents are going through because this is exactly what we also experienced during our time at MAGRA. "Jomo sold us dreams that he was taking us to Mamelodi Sundowns for the playoffs, which we are still waiting for today. It is so sad to see this happening again to other young players, as I understand how it shatters our football dreams, " said a former MAGRA player who wished to remain anonymous.
"As the community of Mahikeng, we are deeply disappointed by the unprofessional behaviour of Jomo. He is not only harming the prospects of young and upcoming football stars within our communities but also exploiting parents while displaying a shocking level of arrogance without a shred of remorse. We will no longer place our trust in him," added the youngster.
Parents are advocating for Bosilong-Mobanga's academy to be transferred to an integrity minded individual to maximize the potential of young players. This incident underscores the importance of transparency, professionalism, and safeguarding youth sports programs from exploitation and deceit, emphasizing the need for transparency in sports.
