In the heart of Delareyville, in Tswaing Municipality, a beacon of hope and transformation shines brightly.

Grace Tshiping Mokoto, a dynamic individual driven by her passion for netball and an unwavering commitment to her community, has harnessed the power of sports to inspire change.

Through the Grace Golden Eagle Netball Club, Grace is rewriting the narrative for young girls, steering them away from the pitfalls of the streets and towards a future brimming with possibilities.

Netball, more than just a sport, serves as a tool for empowerment in the Tswaing Municipality. Grace recognized the potential of this team-based activity to combat issues like teenage pregnancy and drug abuse that plague her community. Her club, the Grace Golden Eagle Netball Club, is not just about honing sporting skills; it's about nurturing resilience, fostering equal access, and amplifying opportunities for all participants.

"I started playing netball at the age of 10," reminisced Grace as she traced her journey back to the roots of her passion. Netball became more than just a game - a vehicle for camaraderie, a space where friends united to achieve a common goal. The schools she attended offered netball, solidifying her connection to the sport that would later become her tool for change.

When Delareyville's Golden Eagle Netball Club took flight, Grace worked as a LoveLife Sports Groundbreaker from 2017 to 2019. Her role extended beyond the realm of sports, encompassing a broader mission to activate sports within her community and schools. With the club's establishment, Grace's vision found a solid foundation to flourish.

Beyond the court, Grace's dreams encompass a netball academy where she envisions coaching and nurturing young talents. Her ambition stretches beyond technique and strategy; she aspires to instil life skills, team dynamics, and the values of discipline and respect that transcend the boundaries of the playing field. Her eyes gleam with the hope that one day, a player from her tutelage will shine on the national stage.

However, her dedication to her North West Province community reaches beyond sports. She organises beauty pageants that empower young women and provide platforms for them to showcase their talents.

Netball, a quintessential team sport, imparts invaluable social and communication skills to its players. As individuals embrace their roles within a team, they learn the art of collaboration, communication, and collective achievement. Grace's players have made their mark in District and National Championships, a testament to the transformative power of her coaching and mentorship.

Looking ahead, Grace envisions the growth of netball across the nation, inspired by its remarkable showing in the World Cup. She strives to ensure that the young women she guides remember the lessons of discipline and respect, carrying these qualities into their futures.

"I want to touch as many hearts as possible through netball," she expressed with a fire that fuels her efforts. As her legacy continues to evolve, her impact is undeniable - a beacon of empowerment and positive change in Tswaing Municipality and beyond.
