South African Police Service in Makgobistad are investigating a fraud case after a Motswana National, who was illegally in the country, was arrested while trying to scam a bar-lady at Shapa-Round tarven, popularly known as Petla-ditlhako at Makgobistad, Gaaragaetswalwe section.
Mo-Media learned that another Motswana national, who managed to flee back to his home country after he was caught by a bar attendant, Mpho Mashuge, after buying beverages to the value of R600 at Makgobistad liquor restaurant, is allegedly trying to negotiate his way out of trouble with the law by persuading the bar-man not to press charges against him.
Mashuge said. "It was around 11pm Saturday night, when me and my colleague noticed the money and traced the buyer. We called the police after apprehending the suspect and found Eight Thousand Two-Hundred (R8.200) fake South African Rands in his pocket. Utill today we are still waiting for the police to arrive, but they never came. These guys take advantage because they know that we trust them."
Warrant officer Sello Magalakwe, failed to attend the matter at Mahikeng on Monday the 27th of March due to lack of transportation, and did not say much about the outcome of the case. "Investigations are still under way to determine whether Mpho Motsewakhumo committed the fraud alone or had accomplices, the matter has been handed over to the courts and we are still waiting for the outcome." Stated Magalakwe.
According to the police, Motsewakhumo was allegedly found with more than Thirty Thousand (R30.000) South African Rands notes during his arrest and charged with fraud, Cas 8/3/2023."
"We are straggling to respond to our people in time due to lack of transport." "We pledge to our community to continue working with us in order to tackle crime and encourage anyone aware of criminal activity to come forward and report to the police." concluded Magalakwe.
