Her love for taking care of oneself started at a very tender age which eventually led her down the career path she chose…Amy Hutton is a qualified Somatologist with a qualification obtained from Isa Carstens Academy of Health and Skincare Therapy in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape. In May 2019, she decided to take a leap of faith and throw caution to the wind and that’s when ‘Glow With Amy’ was established. A self-funded business nestled in the suburban area in Mahikeng called Riviera Park.
As you enter her establishment the ambience screams peace and tranquillity, definitely a place you’d want to relax and unwind. Amy started out with just a massage bed and with the proceeds, she received from doing massages; she was then able to purchase more equipment with the intention of growing her establishment such as wax pots etc.
Now by purchasing more equipment she was then able to branch out and provide other services or rather treatments such as waxing, slimming wraps, holistic treatments, cupping therapy and advanced facials such as derma planning (which also happens to be one of her most popular treatments) is the procedure in which the skin is manually exfoliated to remove dead skin build-up and fine hairs.
In an industry that is very competitive Amy chooses not to be shaken by her fellow spa owners… its really simple, if there’s a service I do not provide such as doing nails I simply refer to someone I know. Her work and customer service speaks for itself hence the fact she is not shaken by her “competitors.”
Plans for expanding Glow with Amy are definitely on the horizon as she has big plans for her establishment. Right now her main aim and focus is building and maintaining her client base by continuing to offer the best possible service her customers have become accustomed to.
As a young woman who owns a business I asked Amy to impart any words of advice and here’s what she had to say “Words of advice to aspiring spa and business owners would be that they don’t anything personal, people will have their preferences even if you do an amazing job you’ll always find peace that don’t want to make use of your services. Also something to consider…your support will never come from familiar faces; it’s those you never thought that will always support your business”.
