The highly anticipated 2023 Dallmayr Mrs South Africa announced its Finalists at an event held on July 7 at the Theatre of Marcellus, Emperors Palace, in Gauteng.

Out of a fierce competition with 100 semi-finalists from all over South Africa, Berlina Lekgethwane, represented North West Province. After judging had been completed, she secured her place amongst the Top 30 finalists.

Guests who attended the first-ever Mrs South Africa Semi-Finalist Showcase, in association with Dallmayr Coffee, were treated to an evening of elegance with a black-tie VIP pre-party with renowned MC and model, Jo-Ann Strauss.

The contestants showed off their dazzling evening wear, and finally, the judges' Top 30 finalists were announced. This year's panel of judges included well-known figures such as former Mrs South Africa Queens, Matapa Maila and Jacqueline Ferns, Dr Fezile Mkhize and Catherine Constantinides.

Lekgethwane, who is a Manager of Media and Communications at the Moses Kotane Local Municipality, said becoming a finalist was a dream come true, especially since this is her first time participating in a beauty pageant and making it nationally, is genuinely humbling.

"I especially carry in me the burden to empower others from humble beginnings like me, motivate as well as equip them with skills so that they too can gain an advantage of opportunities. We all should thrive in the current economic meltdown," said Lekgethwane.

Mrs South Africa is the country's leading pageant for married women, offering participants a renowned self-development programme and the opportunity to impact their communities positively.

Lekgethwane said through mentorship, leadership training, workshops and personal development, the pageant empowers its contestants with the skills and tools necessary to effect meaningful societal change.

The grand finale, where one finalist will be crowned the new Dallmayr Mrs South Africa, will be held on November 17

"We were simply amazed by the remarkable talent and dedication of each of this year's Top 30 finalists, and we look forward to welcoming them on the next stage of their Dallmayr Mrs South Africa journey," said Joani Johnson, the CEO of Mrs South Africa.
