Bonolo “Bee-sting” Molosiwa continues to make great strides in the entertainment industry. She is best known in the entertainment industry as a woman who wears more than one hat. She is a radio personality with one of Gauteng’s popular radio stations Kaya FM, an Afro Jazz singer, a social media influencer and an MC at big events.Before joining Kaya FM; she was with North West FM, currently known as You FM.
Bonolo says her radio presenter career started at university. “I was first a presenter at NWU FM the rest is history,” she stated. “Bee-sting” joined Kaya FM in 2022 and is part of the station’sweekend line-up headlining the show: The Hive on Fridays and Saturdays from 6 pmto 9 pm.
Bonolo first rose to prominence when she participated in the M-Net Idols III, in 2005. That is the competition in which she achieved 11th position. She holds a qualification in Communication from the North-West University (NWU) and is an alumnus of the Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists: News and Traditional Broadcast Media / Multi-Regional Project through the United StatesDepartment of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs International VisitorLeadership Program through the US Embassy.
‘‘I got the chance to participate in the Edward R.Murrow Program for Journalists through a recommendation made by a representative from the US Embassy who I had an opportunity to interview,’’ said Bonolo.
An Afro-jazz singer, Bonolo co-wrote and recorded the song “Tselatshweu” on KB Motsilanyane’s album El Musica, collaborated with late HHP, Speedy and Ishmael on the album Mafikeng and worked with various house DJ’s including DJ Clock.
In 2015, she released her debut album Platinum Product, recorded with a six-piece live band. Bonolo has shared the stage with entertainment royalty including the likes of LettaMbulu, Caiphus Semenya, Thandiswa Mazwai, Amanda Black as well as the late Busi Mhlongo, Thandi Klaasen, Sipho Gumede, Sibongile Khumalo to name a few.
Bonolo is also a lead vocalist in a 10-piece live jazz band called “B-Sting and The Hive”. The band includes a pianist, bass guitarist, percussionist, acoustic guitarist,lead guitarist, drummer,saxophonist, and two backup vocalists.
B-Sting and The Hive have performed at various events across the country, from corporate government events to festivals. The band is a true representation of a multicultural South Africa, and this influences the range of music they create.
She was also recently an MC at the Mahika Mafikeng Cultural festival held inMafikeng from 17 to 19 March 2023.She recorded a theme song for Mahika Mahikeng Cultural Festival with Thebe. Bee-sting says her love for music keeps her going.
“I love music and how it makes people feel and most importantly how it heals. What makes me stand out is just being myself. So I will not advise anyone to follow in my footsteps or anyone`s footsteps; but rather create their own vision and followtheir own dreams,” said Bonolo.
Bonolo says she hasn’t arrived yet, as she wants to continue spreading love with music.
