Two pupils from the Mmoledi High School pocketed R2500 at the Battle of Dancers Competition held at the Rock Entertainment Club Logageng on Good Friday. Dikabelo Bantshitse in Grade 9 and Mompati Otimele in Grade 11 from Logageng village stay together, dance, and study together.
Logagane village is located next to the borderline of Botswana and South Africa. It is about 85km from the Mahikeng CBD.
Motsweding FM Radio presenter Tebogo Hotane, one of the judges during the competition, reminded the audience that it was Easter Friday by starting the event with gospel music. While some audience members harmonized, others were filled with tears. Hotane back turned and put everyone in the holiday mood, returning the day to a Friday well spent with family and friends.
Another one of the competitors in the challenge, Boitshepo Makodi (20), studied fashion design at Mmabana and says that she wants to see her village progress and the young women around her village become independent. "The Rock is not just an entertainment centre; it's giving back to the community. Mostly encouraging the youth by bringing celebrities to our village," said Makodi.
